David de Vries: Fast Track To Intimacy

David is an actor and narrator, director and teacher, and occasional photographer and songwriter. He has appeared on Atlanta stages for more than thirty years in roles like Scrooge in A Christmas Carol at the Alliance Theatre, Sigmund Freud at Theatrical Outfit in Freud’s Last Session and many, many others. He spent two years on Broadway performing the role of “Lumiere” in Beauty and the Beast, along with several National Tours and another three years with the smash hit musical Wicked in Los Angeles, Chicago and all across the country. His film and television credits include the upcoming features The Accountant, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk and The Dunning Man. As an award-winning audiobook narrator, David has over 100 titles to his credit in all genres, but is especially proud of his work in children’s literature where he has lent his voice to Caldecott Award winners like A Sick Day for Amos McGee. David’s directing credits include the critically acclaimed production of Storefront Church, which just closed a successful run at Theatrical Outfit, and their Suzi Award winning production of Red. His next collaboration with the Outfit will be this fall, directing Artistic Director Tom Key in Buckminster Fuller: The History and Mystery of the Universe.
David holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Performing Arts from American University and a Master’s Degree in Communication and Leadership Studies from Gonzaga University.
David talked about the choices that took him into the theater and of the extraordinary lessons available from that environment for the business world. Major takeaways include:
