Lessons from the Show
On the show Matt discusses his life in politics and talks not just about the importance of getting involved in local politics, but about the impact this has on our own lives. He makes it clear that local politicians will largely make themselves available if you make it clear you are really interested. He offered us many wonderful lessons that point us towards an authentic, happy and fulfilling life and career including:
- Recognize that we all live in our own bubble – whether that is your village or the State Capitol – and that we need to stretch our wings beyond it;
- Traveling to other parts of the world can show us that we live in Disney-world;
- Take your job seriously but don’t take yourself too seriously;
- Getting involved in local politics is a lot easier than it might seem: the issues you want to engage around are already supported by groups engaged with politics, so all you have to do is find the group and show up!
Rep Dollar’s suggestion is particularly timely in the divisive aftermath of our recent presidential election, and is one of the themes that we will pick up in this week’s article, “Living With President Trump And Making America Great”. You can contact Matt by email at email@example.com.
